Meet Our 8th Graders - Listella.

Listella is a member of the Yankton Sioux Tribe. Listella’s future dreams and plans include first graduating high school. After high school and college, she has several possible occupations in mind: a DJ, a dentist, a photographer or possibly joining the army.


Meet Our 8th Graders - Grace.

Grace is a member of the Lower Brule Sioux Tribe. Grace’s favorite home memory is when Chris and Diana took them to the movies. After the movies they went to McDonalds and played in the playground. It was so much fun because both of the houseparents played ball with them! After graduating from high school, Grace wants to join the army or go to college and become a doctor or nurse.


Meet Our 8th Graders - Camron.

Camron is a member of the Lower Brule Sioux Tribe. Camron’s favorite memory while attending school at St. Joseph’s is when they had a free day in Matt’s math class. They went to the Rec Center. His favorite home memory is just walking around the campus with his friends, Jered and Rain. After graduating high school, Camron wants to go to college and become an animator.


Meet Our 8th Graders - Benjamin.

Benjamin is a member of the Lower Brule Sioux Tribe. Ben’s favorite memory at St. Joseph’s is when they went on the seventh grade cultural trip. It started raining and it cracked the windshield! Another favorite memory was winning the Lakota Nation Invitational (LNI) Handgame Tournament this year. After finishing high school and maybe college, Ben plans to join the Army.


Meet Our 8th Graders - Sarah.

Sarah is a member of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe. Sarah’s favorite home memory is when she and Alyssa both got whipped cream pies in the face on their birthdays! And she also loved being roomates with her sisters. After graduating high school, Sarah plans on going to college. She wants to enter some type of medical field that helps her to get out in the world more.


Meet Our 8th Graders - Aalyiah.

Aalyiah is a member of the Yankton Sioux Tribe. Aalyiah’s favorite memory was riding on the bus coming home from Crow Creek and telling scary stories with Mary! She will also remember her seventh grade home trip to Waitiki Water Park. Aalyiah hopes to go to college after she graduates from high school. She would then like to become either a nurse or a cop.


Meet Our 8th Graders - Dylan.

Dylan is a member of the Lower Brule Sioux Tribe. Dylan says he has a lot of favorite memories from St. Joseph’s Indian School because of all the fun times. He also has made a lot of new friends. Dylan’s future dreams and plans include graduating from high school, going to college and becoming a cop. He also wants to do his best to be a good older brother.


Meet Our 8th Graders - Mary.

Mary is a member of the Lower Brule Sioux Tribe. One of her favorite memories from her time at St. Joseph’s is riding back on the bus with Aalyiah from a basketball game. They were making up stories about monsters! Mary also loved having water fights. After high school graduation and attending college, Mary would like to become a teacher or a houseparent and work at St. Joseph’s Indian School!


Meet Our 8th Graders - Alise.

Alise is a member of the Lower Brule Sioux Tribe. Alise’s favorite home memory was when she was in Pinger Home with Shakia. After seeing a movie, Shakia scared Alise and Alise accidently hit Shakia in the face with her shoe! After high school graduation and attending college, Alise would like to be a photographer.


Meet Our 8th Graders - Jered.

Jered is a member of the Lower Brule Sioux Tribe. Jered’s favorite school memory is his very first Halloween at St. Joseph’s when he was in fourth grade. He dressed up like a leopard. After high school graduation, Jered wants to go to college and become an animator.


Meet Our 8th Graders - Nathaniel.

Nathaniel is a member of the Lower Brule Sioux Tribe. Nate’s favorite memory while attending St. Joseph’s is when his teacher, Matt, won a push up contest against the entire class. His favorite home memory is when his houseparent, Jim, burned some soup. They tried to eat it, but ended up eating peanut butter and jelly sandwiches! Nate’s future dreams and plans include finshing high school and college and then becoming a lawyer.


Meet Our 8th Graders - Lara.

Lara is a member of the Lower Brule Sioux Tribe. Lara’s favorite school memory is when she fell down the hill at recess. Her favorite home memory was when they celebrated her unbirthday in the home and she got ambushed with the cake — it was quite a mess! After high school graduation, Lara would like to attend art school and become an artist.


Meet Our 8th Graders - Patrick.

Patrick is a member of the Lower Brule Sioux Tribe. Patrick’s favorite school memory while attending St. Joe’s happened when he was in art class — he got to make things like a sandwich, a drink and fries out of clay! His favorite home memory was going to Thunder Road for his home trip. After graduating from high school, Patrick wants to be a mechanic at his dad’s garage.


Meet Our 8th Graders - Joe.

Joe is a member of the Lower Brule Sioux Tribe. His favorite memory while attending St. Joseph’s is when they won the LNI handgames competition. His favorite home memory is all the fun he had in sixth grade. Justin and Deavontay were eighth graders at the time — it was so much fun to be around them because they included the younger kids. Joe plans to graduate high school, and then go to college or trade school — he would like to be a carpenter.


Meet Our 8th Graders - Alan.

Alan is a member of the Yankton Sioux Tribe. Alan’s favorite memory while attending school at St. Joseph’s is going on a day trip to the Dakota 38+2 Ride. He got to see his family members who were participating in the ride. After Alan graduates from high school, he plans to attend college (he would love to go to Duke!). Alan wants to go into engineering, play basketball and meet Coach K!


Meet Our 8th Graders - Wankiya.

Wankiya is a member of the Oglala Sioux Tribe. His favorite memory while attending St. Joseph’s is learning to play hand games. Wankiya’s best home memory is the trip to Sioux Falls to attend an indoor football game. After high school graduation and trade school, his dream is to be a race car technician.


Meet Our 8th Graders - Louie.

Louie is a member of the Rosebud Sioux Tribe. Louie’s favorite school memory while attending St. Joseph’s is going on the seventh grade cultural trip. His favorite home memory is the time Maleke was making them all laugh — they laughed so hard they started to cry! After Louie graduates from high school, he would like to attend college. He dreams of playing basketball with the NBA.


Meet Our 8th Graders - Treyah.

Treyah is a member of the Ponca Tribe. Treyah’s favorite school memory is playing tether ball outside with her family service counselor, Amanda. Amanda meant to hit the ball toward Treyah but instead she hit herself in the face! Her favorite home memory was when Mathias and Stevens Homes would have prank wars. After high school graduation, Treyah would like to become a cosmetologist.


Meet Our 8th Graders - Duran.

Duran belongs to the Crow Creek Sioux Tribe. Duran’s favorite memory of St. Joseph’s are the first days when he returned to school after summer break — he got to see all of his friends. His favorite home memory is having a water fight in a field. It was really fun because a lot of people were participating. After high school graduation and getting a college education, Duran hopes to become a singer.
