Our high school students are preparing for the future!

Our high school students are preparing for the future!

Eighth-grade graduation is only the first of many important milestones for our Native American youth. High school is next!

To help our students prepare for the next step in their journey, they attend a two-week High School Prep Program during the summer.

Each morning for two weeks, students:

  • Go to Chamberlain High School from 8:45-11:45 a.m. to meet their teachers, become familiar with the school and participate in Math, Geography/Current Affairs, Business and English classes.
  • Return to St. Joseph’s campus for lunch.
  • Spend time at the Rec Center.

Each afternoon, students participate in classes that focus on stress management, study skills and self-advocacy. With help from their Family Service Counselors and high school tutor, students also take time to set educational goals for themselves. The incoming freshmen also spend time in career exploration and visit post-secondary technical schools and area colleges.

Students are also required to choose and perform a community service project during their two weeks on campus.

St. Joseph’s High School Prep Program is the result of collaboration with the Chamberlain school system; it helps our students make a smooth transition into high school and achieve their fullest potential!

Thank you for helping us prepare our students for the future!
