With hardships like poverty, suicide, violence and diabetes facing the Native American people of South Dakota, you may find yourself asking ‘can my $10.00 really make a difference?’

YES!

In fact, the Title 1 program at St. Joseph’s Elementary School is the only program at St. Joseph’s that receives regular federal funding. All the other programs and services offered to the Lakota children at St. Joseph’s Indian School are privately provided through the support and generosity of kolafriends — just like you!

I am thankful for Religion Class, getting to be on the basketball team and for the care I get at St. Joseph’s Indian School.

Some important facts:

  • Our average donation is less than $24.00
  • We don’t receive large corporate gifts that make up the majority of our budget. One by one, people just like you, make our work possible

Thanks to you, we are able to provide college scholarships, health care, programs that strengthen families, quality education, nutritious food, warm clothing, counseling services, safe homes and cultural education for the Native American children entrusted to our care.

I am thankful for homes, warmth and my houseparents Paula, Lloyd, Theresa and Odis.
