Legend tells us that when the Spanish Flu took the lives of millions in the early 1900’s, a little girl danced in a dress made with metal cones and was healed.

Through the years since, the jingle dress has been a form of prayer to heal the sick. During this COVID-19 pandemic, we’re going back to our roots. St. Joseph’s Indian School turned to the Great Spirit to hear our prayer through the jingle dress dance once again.

Thank you for watching this video. This project was such a wonderful example of faith and culture joining at St. Joseph’s. Having the girls come together to perform the jingle dress dance as a prayer for healing was very special to us, and we hope it’s special to you, too.

If this project touched your heart, you can help now by supporting more
Lakota (Sioux) boys and girls at St. Joseph’s Indian School.

Thank you for being a treasured part of our thiyóšpaye — extended family.
